Hello, My Name is Hypocrite

One of my strong suits is hypocrisy.

Last week, I was lamenting to one of my friends about how I couldn’t achieve one of my dreams until…

And, she said, Oh, you mean like…

I could do my dream, if only I had a housekeeper.
If only I could be on Oprah…
If only, I could get funding…

(See page 194 of Dare, Dream, Do).

Uh, yeah.

We were having this conversation during a six-mile walk.

Now, to walk my talk.

Do you have people that will call you on your _____?

If you don’t, is it because no one wants to be your friend?  Or that you haven’t been open/vulnerable enough for anyone to know you well enough to say that?

Think of it, not as hypocrisy, but as possessing a gift that shines for others’ sakes, and so now and then you need someone to hold before you a mirror. That’s all.

    Good mirror holding, Julie. :)

Rough questions there at the end. I need to think about who my mirror holders are. (present company excluded, of course.)

It’s an interesting dichotomy; we will often shy away from sharing our dreams with others because they are so personal, so important to us that the thought of someone “shooting them down” is impossible to stomach.

Yet, even though our dreams are so personal, so important to us, we fail to act on them out of an irrational fear that if they actually do come true, somehow the well of dreams will be left dry.

Drink up dreamers. The well is infinite…

I like that Brian. Drink up dreamers. The well is infinite. That’s tweetworthy.

Beautifully said Julie! And I agree Macy — rough questions.
